This tool analyses the thermal performance of building façades directly from a DXF geometry file. No account required.

  • U-value — computes the overall thermal transmittance of the façade, accounting for surfaces and all thermal bridges.
  • Thermal bridges — quantifies linear (ψ) and point (χ) thermal bridge contributions to total heat loss.
  • Heat flux breakdown — shows the split of heat losses between surfaces, linear bridges, and point bridges.
  • Visual results — interactive colour-coded diagram of the façade with selectable result views and tabular output.

Compatible with EN 12631, NFRC 100, and similar façade thermal calculation methods.

Draw the façade elevation in any CAD tool and export as .DXF in line with the used calculation method (EN 12631, NFRC 100…)

There are three types of entities that can be drawn:

  • Area-based heat loss — draw each area as a closed polyline or a set of closed lines.
  • Linear thermal bridges — draw a line or polyline representing a linear heat loss. If the linear heat loss corresponds to the perimeter of a closed polyline, there is no need to redraw it.
  • Point thermal bridges — draw point heat losses as points in the DXF.
  • Units — draw in millimetres. The tool auto-detects common DXF units.

Keep the geometry flat (2 D). Only the XY plane is used for thermal calculations.

Your DXF file is transmitted to our server solely to perform the thermal calculation. It is processed in memory and is not stored, logged, or shared with any third party. It is discarded immediately after the results are returned to your browser.

No cookies or tracking technologies are used on this tool page. A short-lived session token is used only to protect the upload endpoint against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and is not linked to any personal identifier.

Server logs may record your IP address and request timestamp as part of standard web-infrastructure operation (Azure App Service). These logs are retained for up to 30 days and are used solely for security and diagnostic purposes.

No personal data is collected by this tool in guest mode. If you choose to create an account, the following additional data is collected — see below.

Account registration (if you choose to sign up)

  • Email address & password — used to authenticate your account. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes (bcrypt); they are never stored in plain text.
  • Saved projects — the thermal models you explicitly save are stored in our database (Azure SQL, UK South region) and associated with your account. They are not shared with any third party.
  • Account deletion — you may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing contact@facadeunits.com. Data is deleted within 30 days of a valid request.
  • Lawful basis — processing is necessary for the performance of the contract (your account) under UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) / EU GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).
